Get to Know Us!

Okay, about me first! My name is Tammy Anckner. I am a life long animal lover who dreamed of being a vet some day. That is until I reached college and realized I had zero aptitude for math or silence…make that science. That ruled out veterinarian school. But having no aptitude for silence made me a perfect Communications Major. Tammy Anckner

I pursued a career in marketing and public relations, working for companies such as IBM, Mobil Oil’s Land Development Division and International Polo. I also went on to achieve a lifelong dream of serving in the military as a Public Affairs Officer in the United States Navy Reserves. Then life as I knew it came to a crashing halt. I had a baby…absorbing, to say the very least! Then the little creature went on to pursue a career of his own in elementary school. I had two goals at that point. The first was to never wear panty hose again. The second was to never stick this two legged wonder in day care. Most bosses don’t allow you to bring noisemakers to work, so I knew I had to strike out on my own.

Since college, my favorite time of day has ALWAYS been the hour I walk my own dogs. I had a pet sitter when I worked in corporate America and actually had to travel further than Chuck E Cheese, so I completely understood the need for good, reliable pet-sitters. Pet-sitting was the perfect career for me and I knew it. As a result, Three Happy Dogs was born! Now, not only do I get to bring my child to work everyday, I get to work with him too.

Dream job: I’m living it.

Our Pet Care Specialists:

Robin Ruff

We couldn’t have dreamed up a better name for a pet sitter! And no, this isn’t her pet sitter stage name either. Our line of work isn’t always easy. Sometimes we get pets that actually want to eat us. My friend Robin is one of the fearless types. Each scary situation is met head-on by her shark infested brand of sarcasm. I knew she could handle our most difficult 4 legged friends when she headed off to the mission fields of Africa. Who does that?

Besides raising her two kids and husband, Robin is also a certified kick-boxing and aerobics instructor and has worked in banquet services at the Marriott forever. Robin is in this for the extra exercise and sloppy wet kisses with waggy tails that greet her at each door. It’s really very self indulgent…this thing that we do.

Ian Bocanegra

Ian BocanegraI met Ian when we were sharing a pet sit for a family friend of his.  I was so impressed with the care he gave those three girls that I asked him to join our team of pet care specialist.  I haven’t regretted it for a minute!  He has such a natural gift with animals and even the shy ones are drawn to him.  I’m surprised he is still with 3 Happy Dogs, considering his first overnight pet sit was in a home with a mountain lion and her cubs living by the lake behind the house.  I received a phone call from him late in the night asking if it would be okay to close the very large doggy door. What was I thinking?  Ian is a native of Arvada but still gets lost as often as I do.  He is a student with a passion for photography and hopes to pursue that as one of five or six career paths.  I’m hoping he’ll choose us, forever, over all his other ambitions!  Plus, he has experience with large farm animals!
